We have all heard the saying, 'It takes a village...' and when we consider the pitfalls our youth encounter today, the saying takes on a whole new meaning. For the 2018-2019 school year Resurrection Catholic School is focused on 'Together we can...'
Together we can become a force for good in our school, community, and world.
Together we can pray. In the morning and afternoon, we can pray as a school community. We can pray at our sporting events. We can go to mass as a class, as a family, as a school. Prayer allows us to grow closer to God and one another. It is a reminder that we are NEVER alone. Parents, check out the calendar. You are welcome to join classes at the 8:00 AM mass, school masses, and on Sunday. You are always welcome.
Together we can serve and help those in need. Each family can participate in Food on Fridays, Dollar Dress Down Days, at Mass (alter server, usher, CLOW). We can volunteer at lunch, Sandwich Making, Recess Runners, as a Homeroom Mom, Mitzvah Day, Coach, Sporting Events, MLK DAY, PTA events. When we come together, we strengthen our bound as a community. We get to know eachother and support one another on this journey called parenthood. We can make a difference by working together to help those in the community who find themselves in need.
Together we can face challenges. When we take the time to develop and strengthen the friendships within the community, it makes it so much easier to face the challenges that arise. We can't always foresee a challenge. They often come to us in the form of a struggling student, a jobloss, the sickness or death of one of our families. As a Christian community, we work to support one another through those difficult times. A card, a phone call, a prayer, a meal. It doesn't matter the form, but the act of kindness is not forgotten.
Together we aspire to achieve. Our teachers are committed to providing the best education possible for your students. We strive to challenge them academically, spiritually, and socially. On the playground, we work to teach them how to play nicely, be inclusive, take turns, speak respectfully. In school, we work to provide the appropriate challenge for each individual student. We strive to excite their imagination and honor their individual gifts. During faith experiences, we challenge students to develop empathy for others through the teachings of Christ. Jesus is at the core of all we do.
When we do these things we grow in love and understanding. As a community, we will not always agree, but we can understand one another and use our differences to challenge one another to become a stronger community. Differences can lead to division if we do not take the time to listen to one another. At the core of it all, is mutal respect. One that comes from the Golden Rule, 'love one another as I have loved you'.
You, your children, our teachers are a gift to our school community. Together we can move mountains. Together we can create a year filled with memories of joy, love, and support.
Here is to the best school year ever. Thank you for entrusting your children to our care.
